Energy

Kia Ora Everyone,
Year-9T Science students are working from home. The unit of work is on Hapara Workspace.
At the moment they are learning about Energy.
I have encouraged the students to write what they have learnt so far as reflection in the comments below. Please feel free to give feedback on the students reflection comment.

  1. Kia ora Mr Prakash, This week I learned that the law of energy states that Energy cannot be created or destroyed but can be changed from one form to another. Including that the human ear has three parts (The outer ear,Middle ear and inner ear) Anyways I found this very interesting and can't wait to do more! Seeyah

    3. Kia ora Mr Prakash, During the lock down and couple of classes we have attended this week we've been focusing on energy and this is my summary about it. I've really enjoyed learning new things about energy I also found it really hard to present my energy presentation to the class but I did it anyways! Throughout the past lock down I focused on Kinetic and Potential energy etc. Now I know more things about energy so if someone asked me a question I'll know what to say and a give them a positive answer. Hopefully this link can take you to my presentation: https://prezi.com/p/edit/ym6wkeg5vuho/ Anyways have a good day :)

  2. kia ora Uncle Prakash today i write to you my reflection n what ive learnt so far about energy, ive learnt that energy can neither be destroyed no created but can transform from one form to another, ive also learnt there are different types of energy like electrial energy and you theres electrial energy when theirs electricity which is anything that creates light and heat, theirs chemical energy which is energy cause by various chemical reactions, but then there the two most common and proberly most used energy around the world which is Kinetic energy and potential energy.kinetic energy is basically energy with movement for example if you feel the air around you that is called kinetic energy and then their is potential energy, potential energy is the energy stored inside and object if a object does not move and stays still it means it had potential energy in it,it is known to be potential energy because if you release it,it does alot.and then their is machenical energy so you kiccking a ball off the ground, first its still so it has potential energy in it but when you kick it,it then forms into kinetic because its moving and that is called machenical energy,it is an object with both potential and kinetic energy.i really like this energy subject because there are a variety of facts and different types of enerys you can learn wheather its electricity or sounding or shocks etc.i really hope we dig deep in this kaupapa,it is a very unique like way of learning and i like it alot!hope we do some experiences on energy!
    stay safe! everybody <3 :)

  4. Kia Ora Mr Prakash this week was our first week of Online class, I won't lie it was pretty hard at first, but I got the hang of it. This week in Science I learnt about different types energy. Some of them are Gravitational Potential Energy, Internal energy, Sound Energy, Electric energy, Nuclear Energy etc. It's been really hard to get all the information in my head, because there's a lot going on. But yes this is what I've learned in Science. Hope everyone keeps safe through the rest of the lock down.

  5. Kia ora Mr Prakash throughout the week I have been learning about food energy calculations. I learnt things like energy value (kj) and how long it takes to loose your energy. The hard part was doing all the maths behind the answers. I found that there are lots of forms of energy and that was something i didn't know. Anyways learning about energy put a bit of knowledge in my head that i didnt know.

  6. Kia Ora Mr Prakash, so far I've learn't that there is multiple types of energy and that energy can't be created or destroyed but can be transformed from one form to another. This energy subject has currently been very interesting and very enjoyable to do even though it has to be in isolation.Energy is a very unique and refreshing especially when it has types of energy. Any ways can't wait to do more!

  10. Kia ora mr prakash for the last few weeks in these two lessons i have learnt about energy and what is in its
In physics, energy is the quantitative property that must be transferred to an object in order to perform work on, or to heat, the object. Energy is a conserved quantity; the law of conservation of energy states that energy can be converted in form, but not created or destroyed. kia ora

  12. So far I've learnt that kinetic and potential energy are 2 of the main forms of energy.. So if you turn on your fan right now and you feel it go past you, that is kinetic energy, and potential is energy within a object.. So if a solid energy its most likely to have potential energy within it.

  13. Kia ora Mr Prakash, this past week I have learnt about different types of energy, such as potential energy as well as active energy and getting to know the difference. I learnt that the amount of energy never changes and always stays the same, and that energy can't be created or destroyed but can be transformed from one form to the other.

  20. It's now Week 4 on this online learning, I'll say it's going very well. Our task now is with a partner or by yourself, you have to do a presentation about energy. it can be anything about energy. My partner and I have decided to do different types of non renewable and renewable energy, and that's what makes them renewable or not. We are still on our planning, but it's looking great :)

  24. I learnt that kinetic and potential is one of the most common types of energy and that energy can be created nor destroyed but can be transferred
to an object or thing. I also learnt about all the other types of energy like mechanical, chemical, nuclear and etc. but that time doing activities about energy was fun, educational and challenging but mostly educational. :)

  25. Kia Ora, this comment is our last reflection comment for the Energy topic. In our Energy department I have learned things I’ve never really taken into consideration. One key that I’ve learned about is that energy can’t be created or destroyed, but it can be transformed into another resource. Energy has made my mind really thinking, and sometimes I go around saying the different types of energy. Myself and T'shaan have made a presentation about the different types of nonrenewable energy. My quick reflection is what I had in the slide. Here is the think to our slide if you wanna check it out, https://drive.google.com/open?id=1wtFLG0woBbjRsLBvFOx4b3PIR3o0PoXcs0X-SxVFyGc. It has been a great journey in the Energy department, it will be the most memorable time for me to look back on :) Ka Kite :)

  26. kia ora
in sci i learned about all the different types of energy (𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕖𝕥𝕚𝕔 𝕖𝕟𝕖𝕣𝕘𝕪 𝕡𝕠𝕥𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕚𝕒𝕝 𝕖𝕟𝕖𝕣𝕘𝕪 etc) i learned that i could turn one energy into another for examaple if i was to roll a ball down a slide it turns into kinetic energy and inside the ball is potential energy so energy makes up all the things we see and do it was very cool:)

  27. kia ora,
In sci i have learn't loads of different types of energy's for an example i have learn't that there are more then 5 type's of energy such as
    -Sound energy
    -Potential energy
    -Kinetic energy
    -Wind energy
    -Chemical energy etc.
i have also learn't the different definitions for them :)
    ill just do one example tho ;-;
    -Food energy
-𝔽𝕠𝕠𝕕 𝔼𝕟𝕖𝕣𝕘𝕪. 𝔽𝕠𝕠𝕕 𝕖𝕟𝕖𝕣𝕘𝕪 𝕚𝕤 𝕕𝕖𝕗𝕚𝕟𝕖𝕕 𝕒𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕖𝕟𝕖𝕣𝕘𝕪 𝕣𝕖𝕝𝕖𝕒𝕤𝕖𝕕 𝕗𝕣𝕠𝕞 𝕔𝕒𝕣𝕓𝕠𝕙𝕪𝕕𝕣𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕤, 𝕗𝕒𝕥𝕤, 𝕡𝕣𝕠𝕥𝕖𝕚𝕟𝕤, 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕠𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣 𝕠𝕣𝕘𝕒𝕟𝕚𝕔 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕡𝕠𝕦𝕟𝕕𝕤

Kia Ora e te Whanau, this is the link for Mine & Jacque's Energy Presentation if not busy come and check it out.

This is the last reflection for the "Energy" topic, all of us have been working on the Energy Unit for at least a month now so we should all know what we’ve learnt. I’ve learnt the different types of Energy (Potential, Gravitational Potential, Nuclear etc.) and how they’re used. The amount of Energy never changes as it is always kept the same. It can’t be destroyed nor created but can be converted from one form to another. I’ve learnt that Kinetic and Potential Energy are the most common forms of Energy.

Thank you Mr Prakash for teaching us more than just a tad about Energy, at least now I have quite a clear understanding of Energy, how it is used, how it is produced and even how it is formed.

  33. So the subject we have been learning is energy here is a summary about what I have learnt. Energy is anything that moves or vibrates or has the ability to work. The two main energy types are kinetic and potential energy. Potential energy is stored in a person or an object and kinetic energy is the energy of movement. I've learnt lots about energy. A fun fact about renewable energy is one wind turbine can produce enough electricity to power up to 300 homes!

  37. throughout the energy workspace ive learnt a lot about energy what it is,how it works, how many types there etc.i was able to make a presentation with Tamarah and we presented it in front of our class
    we talked about
    *what is energy
    *kinetic and potential energy
    *sound and heat energy
    *light and thermal energy
    *gravitational and electrical energy
    *mechanical and elastic energy
    *nonrenewable energy
    *renewable energy
    *the human ear
Energy is a interesting subject and during this term i have learnt lots

  40. I Really enjoyed the digestive system because it was just so much fun to learn about the body or your insides because then when you eat you get a better understanding about how it's going to go.

My reflection- I highly think that I was successful at knowing what and how the digestive system works. I think i need a little bit more work on naming each type of tooth in the mouth because I need to read the book properly so I can tell you that I know how to name those teeth in the mouth. I think that I was very successful in Describing the steps of the ingestion of the digestive system and the excretion of the digestive system Starting from the mouth . (The mouth) is the very beginning of the digestive system, and it is responsible for breaking down food so that it can travel safely down the rest of the digestive tract. (The tongue) is an important part of the digestive system, and is important for chewing, swallowing and tasting food. (The esophagus) is important for transporting food to the stomach, the esophagus muscles are so strong that you can eat upside down. (The large intestine) is a 1.5 meter long organ that is a part of the digestive system. The large intestine has three primary functions. 1 absorbing water and electrolytes-2 producing and absorbing vitamins-3 forming and propelling feces toward the rectum for elimination.(The small intestine) does most of the work in the digestive system, it absorbs most the nutrients you get from your food into your bloodstream. (gallbladder) is a fruit shaped organ just below the liver. Its primary function is storing concentrate bile. It's a yellowy brown-ish enzyme manufactured by the liver. (The pancreas) is located in the abdomen, It converts food into fuel for the body cells, the pancreas has two main functions 1 an exocrine function that helps in digestion and endocrine function that regulates blood sugar. (The rectums) work is to get stool from the colon, at that point the stool is excreted out from the (anus) . And that's the end of the steps of the digestive system. Enzymes make compound responses in the body. They really accelerate the pace of a synthetic response to help bolster life. The compounds in your body help to perform significant errands. These incorporate structured muscle, crushing poisons, and separating food particles during processing.
    Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates give you energy, calcium and B vitamins. These could be servings of pasta, rice, oats, potatoes and sweet potatoes or noodles, yam, couscous, bread, barley and rye. Breakfast cereals are also a carbohydrate and many contain extra iron too.
    Protein
Think of proteins as building blocks for the body – they help it grow and repair itself. Protein is found in meat, fish and eggs, while nuts, beans, lentils, peas, dahl, Quorn and soya are great vegetable proteins. These foods also provide us with iron and other vitamins and minerals.
    Dairy products
Packed with calcium, protein and vitamins such as vitamins A, D and B12, dairy products keep our bones and teeth healthy. Our bodies easily absorb the calcium from these foods, such as milk, yoghurt, fromage frais and cheese.

    Fruit and vegetables
Fruit and veg – fresh, frozen, tinned, dried and juices – are brilliant for our diets. They’re full of health-giving vitamins, antioxidants and fibre – that keep us feeling full and our digestive systems healthy – plus they’re low in calories. By eating a wide variety of fruit and veg, you’ll be getting a range of the important nutrients they contain.

    Fats and sugars
It’s important not to have too many foods from this group as they give us a lot of energy from calories but not much nutrition. Try to keep foods such as butter, margarine, cooking oils and salad dressings to a minimum and save chocolate, crisps, sugary soft drinks, sweets, jam, cream, cakes, pudding, biscuits and pastries for the occasional treat.

The carnivores eat lots of meat and herbivores eat vegetables and omnivores are just like humans because they eat both carnivores and herbivores.
